Man killed in Aranayake
Aranayake Police have commenced investigations regarding the murder of a 74-year-old man. According to the Police, the man is suspected to have been killed by his son who is said to be suffering from a psychological disorder on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Hewapedige Wijeratne, a resident of Elangapitiya, Aranayake.
Aava group member nabbed
A man suspected to be a member of the Aava group was arrested in the Kokuvil area on Friday evening. Police say the man is suspected to have been involved in several attacks using sharp weapons and for damaging property. Police also discovered an axe in his possession. The 18-year-old suspect is said to be a resident of Kokuvil. Kopai Police are investigating.
Pedestrian killed by Motorcyclist
A pedestrian involved in an accident with a motorcycle has succumbed to his injuries in Embilipitiya. The accident had occurred on Friday night, the Police said. According to the Police, the motorcyclist who had been travelling from Embilipitiya towards Moraketiya had collided with a 65-year-old Pedestrian.
The victim has been identified as Ranasinghe Dias, a resident of Embilipitiya.
