S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike was one of the greatest national leaders of Sri Lanka. He was the son of the late Mudaliyar Solomon Dias Bandaranaike. He was born in Horogolla. He studied at Royal College, Colombo. After passing his matriculation he was sent to England. He completed his education becoming a Barrister-at-Law. He became Prime Minister after the general elections in 1956.
