First Prize: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is written by C.S. Lewis. It was first published in 1950 by Geoffrey Bles. It is the first book of The Chronicles of Narnia, which is a fabulous series of seven books. The series is about a fictional world called Narnia, where magic is common and where animals can talk and think like humans and where a gigantic lion called Aslon is the guardian and saviour of Narnia.

The story is about four siblings named Peter, Edmund, Lucy and Susan Pevensie discovering the kingdom of Narnia. It is Lucy who discovers the entrance to Narnia through a wardrobe. The evil witch has created a winter which has lasted for more than hundred years. The adventure unfolds when Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy help Narnians and Aslon to defeat the evil witch. The writing style of this book is different from other books. It is as if you are actually listening to the writer telling the chronicles and maybe that is why it is still popular and captivates readers.
