The closing date of applications for Journalism Awards of Excellence 2018, has been extended until May 10, Joint Organising Committee sources said.
Described as the Sri Lankan equivalent of the Pulitzer, the Excellence in Journalism Awards is the most prestigious annual program for journalists, which recognises outstanding work and rewards those deserving merit. The Awards Ceremony aims to shape the future of journalism in the country by improving the skills needed for excellence, recognising and rewarding achievements and high standards and focusing on professional ethics.
The Journalism Awards Program was started in 1999 by The Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka (TEGOSL) following the “Colombo Declaration on Media Freedom and Social Responsibility.”
