Election manifestos of Sajith and Gota in mid October

The two main contenders of the Presidential election are scheduled to release their election manifestos, a published declaration of their policies, by mid October.

Minister Eran Wickremaratne who is in charge of the preparation of Democratic National Front (DNF) candidate Sajith Premadasa’s manifesto said his policy document was now in a draft state. It will run through the political leadership of the UNP and the coalition partners before being released.

“We did extensive consultations with the Chambers and other stakeholders covering Defence, Education, Health, Trade, Logistics, Agriculture, Manufacturing and Services as well as the ICT sector,” he said adding that the candidate himself had interaction sessions with industry representatives to seek their inputs for the draft. SLPP Chairman Prof.G.L.Peiris said the SLPP candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s election manifesto will be released in the second or third week of October. The SLPP has appointed 26 specialist committees to work on different aspects of the manifesto. The candidate also held meetings with different segments of society with a promise to incorporate their pleas in his document. “Much of the work has been completed.
