Who should wear a mask, and how

26 March, 2020
The Health Ministry recommends the wearing of masks only for COVID-19 patients, their family members and all other close associates of the patients, people who suffer from flu like symptoms (sneezing, cough, headache, fever etc) and health care workers.

Hands should be washed with soap and water before wearing the mask. The mask should not be touched while wearing it, and it shouldn’t be touched from the front while removing. The following procedure should be adhered to:

·     Before putting on a mask, clean the hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

·     Cover the mouth and nose with the mask making sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask.

·     Avoid touching the mask while using it; if you do, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

·     Replace the mask with a new one as soon as it is damp and do not re-use single-use masks.

·     To remove the mask: take it off from behind (do not touch the front of the mask); discard immediately in a closed bin; clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and         water.
