The General Election 2020 held on August 5 has brought Sri Lanka to a new stage in political history. A peaceful environment prevailed during election time except a few minor incidents. former minister S.M. Chandrasena told SLPP supporters that their election victory is a victory of the farmers. He said that the people have endorsed the policies of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and have strengthened the hands of the President to carry out his election manifesto presented at the Presidential Election 2019.
