Jeddah Consulate to remain closed till Sept.25

Sri Lanka’s Consulate in Jeddah has been temporarily shut down due to the COVID-19 attack on one of its staff members. It will be re-opened on September 26.

Acting Consul General of the Sri Lanka Consulate in Jeddah, T.F.M.Aashiq told the Daily News that the mission was forced to close down for a short period since a staff member was found positive for the coronavirus.

The victim a translator of the mission for more than two decades has come now come out of the hospital and he is self-quarantined at home till he reports full recovery.

Following the detection of the COVID-19 patient at the mission, the Saudi health ministry has instructed the consulate to close for 14-days and now it is set to be re-opened on September 26.

After a fortnight, the other members of the mission will undergo PCR tests to clear themselves from the virus, the diplomat said.
