Former Sunday Observer Chief Editor and eminent journalist H.L.D. Mahindapala celebrates his 92nd birthday today.
He held the post of Chief Editor of the Sunday Observer from 1990 to 1994.
Thereafter, he migrated to Australia. After a successful stint Down Under, he decided to spend his retirement in Sri Lanka. He was a regular columnist for the Sunday Observer.
Mahindapala was born on January 8, 1931 – the same day which marked the birthday of former Prime Minister, the late S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike who was born in 1899.
