The Civil Defence Department, under the guidance of Commanding Officer of the Kataragama Brigade Colonel L.G.K. Kitsiri, organised a flag hoisting ceremony at Kataragama Kiriwehera aiming to gain blessings, on Tuesday morning. The program was held to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Civil Defence Force. Five hundred and sixty seven Civil Defence personnel sacrificed their lives for the country during the war.
