Sri Lanka set for Central Asian men’s volleyball

Sri Lanka will host the Central Asian Challenge Cup volleyball tournament with the participation of six countries at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, to be held from October 9 to 15 contested by Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Nepal and Saudi Arabia.

The tournament will be declared open by Prime Minister Dinesh Goonewardena. The Champions of the tournament, runners-up and third placed, team will receive the gold, silver and bronze medals.

There will also be Awards on offer for Most Valuable Player, Best Outside Spiker, Best Blocker, Best Middle Blocker, Best Opposite, Best Setter and Best Libero. The Central Asia Men’s Challenge Cup is held for the second time here and the first Challenge Cup was held in Bangladesh 2021.

Sri Lanka won the Cup once which was a big achievement in the history of Sri Lanka volleyball.

The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation said the matches could be witnessed without any gate charge.

October 15 final day: Third place play off at 1.30 p.m. and the final at 4.p.m.
