Sri Lankan bodybuilder bags Silver medal at world meet

A student of St. Peter’s College, Thenura Laksen, who participated in two bodybuilding and physical sports championships held in South Korea and Malaysia won three Silver medals, one at a world meet, and one bronze medal flying his country’s flag high and wide.

He was met on arrival at the Katunayake airport by family members and well-wishers.

Laksen initially schooled at St. Peter’s College in Negombo and later enrolled with the Peterites of Bambalalitiya where he graduated and completed his A Level examination.

The 20-year old Laksen has now increased his collection of medals won at international meets to nine.

In the 14th World Bodybuilding and Physical Sports Championship held in Seoul, South Korea from November 6 to 12, Laksen competed in the junior under-75 kgs weight category and won the Silver medal placed second.

Subsequently in the International Bodybuilding Federation Championship held on November 26 and 27 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Thenura won two Silver medals in the junior Open division and a Bronze medal in classic junior Open division.
