Raigam Tele’es 2023 celebrates 20th anniversary

The much awaited 20th edition of the Raigam television awards will be held on March 30 at Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo and 63 awards in seven segments will be presented.

A Life Insurance cover worth one million rupees along with 100,000 rupees’ medical insurance is offered by Allianz Insurance Company to all nominees, award winners, and jury members. Sampath Bank and Dialog are the other main sponsors of Raigam Tele’es 2023.

As a sequel to this the ‘nominations evening of Raigam Tele’es 2023’ was held at Waters Edge amidst artistes and electronic media personnel and Raigam Group Senior Director Ganaka Amarasinghe, said that new technologies were used for the judging process, thus making the award ceremony more transparent all stakeholders.

“As the SMS-based voting system has some allegations, we adopted this novel judging process.”

“To select the most penetrated television program, news bulletin, teledrama, and TV channel, the organizers have sought the opinion of the masses by drawing a representative sample to decide on behalf of the total population.”

“Raigam Tele’es motivates and guides personnel in the electronic media and teledrama sphere to engage in producing programs which are rich in content and which shed light on a just society.”

The jury of Raigam Tele’es 2023 is headed by senior media personality and poet Buddhadasa Galappaththi with Prof Ajantha Hapuarachchi, Prof. Rohini Paranawithana, Saman Wickamaarachchi, Dr Hansamala Ritigahapola, Ranga Dassanayake, Jayanath Gunawardene, Sudath Devapriya, and B H Abdul Hameed.

Chief Guest of the nominations evening was, veteran media personality Siri Ranasinghe.

Established exclusively for the recognition and appreciation of the efforts and achievements of artists, technicians and everyone associated with the teledrama industry, Raigam Tele Awards Ceremony this time promises to be the biggest and the best awards ceremony held in Sri Lanka.

The Raigam Tele’es is one of the most popular television program events in Sri Lanka. The awards were first introduced in 2005 and continuously undertaken with one interruption in 2021.
