Over Rs. 295 m for victims

The annual reports of the Office of Reparations has revealed that over Rs.295 million has been paid in compensation for people killed and injured and property damaged in the Easter Sunday attacks.

According to the report, Rs. 273,747,000 has been paid as compensation for the dead and injured people and Rs. 21,752,069 for damaged property.

One million rupees in compensation has been paid for death and permanent disablement; a maximum of Rs.500,000 paid based on the percentage of temporary and permanent disablement as stated in the medical report. Compensation to a maximum of Rs. 5,000,000 has been paid for damaged properties upon the assessment of the Chief Valuation Officer of the Government.

Compensation has been paid for 719 people who died or were injured due to the Easter Sunday attacks.
