A brilliant bevy of girls from Holy Family Convent (HFC) Bambalapitiya made sparkling history in schools basketball by winning the Under-20 All Island Inter School Basketball Championship for the fourth time in a row.

No other girls’ school team has ever achieved the monumental feat before in the tournament’s history.

In the first quarter, HFC had a slender lead of 9-8, but Good Shepherd caught up and led at halftime. Then, in the third quarter, HFC bounced back and took the lead with a score of 41-34.

In the battle for third place, St. Joseph’s Girls School Nugegoda beat Lyceum International School Wattala with a score of 40-28, leading 18-12 at halftime. This win gave St. Joseph’s the third-place position.

Since 2008, the Holy Family Convent (HFC) basketball team has been coached by Shane Daniel and Randima Sooriyarachchi.

With their awesome coaching and the players’ hard work, HFC has become the biggest story in schools basketball playing at their best year after year.
