7 April, 2019

SriLankan Aviation College (SLAC), the training wing of Sri Lanka’s national carrier, recently completed its latest audit for the EASA Part-147 certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

It first obtained EASA Part-147 certification in 2008 and has held it continuously since then, with twice-yearly audits from EASA and constant monitoring by SriLankan’s own Engineering and Corporate Quality Department, which is an independent entity within the national carrier that ensures that standards.

Group Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, Vipula Gunatilleka said, “SriLankan Airlines is the best choice for all types of aircraft engineering related work for any airline, especially those that operate Airbus aircraft. Our vision is to make the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) the hub of aircraft engineering in South Asia.

With these global standards, certifications and our modern facilities and 40 years’ experience in the industry, our customer airlines can have full confidence in our abilities to deliver quality service.” Chief Technical Officer of SriLankan Airlines, D.A.G. Jayasuriya said, “Our hub at the BIA has undergone a complete transformation last year since we invested in modernising and upgrading our facilities and the skill levels of our staff. We are proud of our ability to deliver quality service and competitive turnaround times.”

SriLankan Engineering possesses EASA Part-145 certification to carry out Base Maintenance operations on Airbus A320, A321 and A330 families of aircraft of all airlines.

It also possesses EASA certifications for its line maintenance and engineering workshops, and authorisation for certification of aircraft operating to the BIA and Male International Airport.

SriLankan Engineering holds third party maintenance approvals from national aviation authorities including Singapore, China, India, Qatar, UAE and Bahrain. It also provides full engineering services for the SriLankan Airlines fleet, which comprises A320, A321 ( CEO and NEO) and A330 aircraft.
