There’s no denying the fact that Corrine Almeida stands tall in Sri Lanka’s music industry. She stands on the same platform that saw two other leading lights in Sri Lanka – Christine de Silva and Priyanthi Manamperi. Sadly the latter two have migrated and we are happy that Corrine is with us to delight music fans with her artistry – be it on a concert stage, on a dance stage or just a small ‘you and me’ gathering.

Corrine, heard through the grapevine that you will be performing in Dubai on the 25th of this month with Anno Domini as the band for the evening. Is this correct?

“Yes it is the Maroon’s Night organised by the Ananda – Nalanda College’s OBA in Dubai. I am looking forward to it. I have sung for this dance before with my own band. But since I don’t have my band anymore, I tour with other bands and sing guest spots for dances, weddings, corporate functions and enjoy my free time with other activities. My fans will be interested to hear that I’m heavily into yoga. I started a year ago and I’m enjoying it to the fullest”.

Speaking to Shehan Perera, leader of Anno Domini it was interesting to note that this performance in Dubai is their first performance in that country and that they are excited about it.

“The event is on April 25 at Movenpick Hotel in Bur Dubai. It is the most prestigious annual event organised by Ananda and Nalanda College Old Boys and will be attended by fellow alumni of Ananda and Nalanda as well as other schools, their families and friends, representing a vast cross section of the Sri Lankan community living in the UAE. We are privileged to work with Corrine – one of Sri Lanka’s legendary singers. We have rehearsed with her and she is sounding amazing, as always!”

The repertoire of the night will consist of popular Sri Lankan hits, retro and modern music. There will also be loads of baila to keep the floor alive!

Anno Domini is celebrating 15 years in the music industry this year and we feel blessed to be invited to perform at the most prestigious events – whether dinner dances, corporate events, weddings or parties.

This is our first performance in Dubai and we are super excited about the gig!’

All our good wishes go with you Corrine and Anno Domini for a successful evening in Dubai!
