The Central Bank named this year as the ‘Year of Digital Transactions’ with the aim of popularising digital transactions among people and businesses. Parallel to the initiative the Payment and Settlement Department of the Bank has launched an islandwide awareness campaign on ‘LankaQR’ in collaboration with the Regional Development Department of the Central Bank.
As the first step the Matale ‘LankaQR’ campaign kicked off yesterday at the Central Bank Regional Office, Matale to educate customers of the area chaired by the Central Bank Governor Prof. W.D. Lakshman.
The event was attended by CEOs of commercial banks, licensed specialised banks and licensed finance companies and government and law enforcement authorities.
