New Zealand declares a rarenational emergency due to Cyclone Gabrielle

According to Reuters:New Zealand has declared a state of emergency for only the third time in its history on Tuesday (14 February)due to Cyclone Gabrielle, which caused widespread flooding, landslides and huge ocean swells. Around 225,000 people, 38,000 homes were left in the darkness, without electricity.

According to local media, people of 50 homes in Auckland (New Zealand’s largest city) was evacuated by the authorities around a 30m tower that was in danger of collapse. Evacuations centres have also been set up on the city.
