The National Tree of Sri Lanka is the Na Tree or the Ironwood tree. It grows well in the wet zones of the country. This tree is chosen as the National Tree due to its utility value and its culture and historical importance.
It is also said that the Na tree will offer shelter to a future Buddha during his Enlightenment.
