Sri Lanka took part in Vietnam Expo 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, fostering new opportunities for bilateral collaboration and developing exports to East Asian markets.
The Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Vietnam organised the participation of Sri Lankan exporters at the 21st edition of Vietnam Expo, from December 7-9 at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.
Micro Power Engineering, Eco Paints, Kelani Valley Plantations and two SME companies, Dehemi Cinnamon, Rathna Batik participated in the Expo. The exhibitors interacted with over 30 potential buyers, mainly in the areas of electronic and electrical products, rubber and rubber based products, antimicrobial non-toxic food grade epoxy paint, cinnamon products, and batik products.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion was opened by Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Vietnam, Prof. A. Saj U. Mendis, Director General, Agency for Southern Affairs of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Vietnam, Nguyen Van Nga, and Vice President, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Vo Tan Thanh.
The Sri Lanka Embassy in collaboration with the Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising company (Vinexad) also organised two factory visits for Sri Lankan company officials to the Long Hau Industrial Park, a leading logistic enterprise named SLP and a shoe manufacturing factory, RichEver.
Business discussions were also organised by the Embassy with Business Network International to optimise the anticpated outcome of Sri Lanka’s participation and to position Sri Lanka as an attractive trade destination.
