Calamander Group celebrates 10th anniversary in style

25 December, 2016

The Calamander Group celebrated its tenth anniversary at its flagship hotel, Calamander Unawatuna Beach. The celebrations began with the soul stirring sounds of the Cultural navy drummers, leading the guests to the Sun Pool deck, garlanded in glittering lights with the Sun and Turtle pools, bathed in the reflection of a thousand shimmering vermillion colour mosaics.

The Chairman, Roman Scott, gave an amusing, anecdotal speech, followed by a short video on the story of the Calamander Group and its growth from a small start up in Singapore to a company that has diversified to hospitality, food and beverage, land acquisition, as well as remaining true to its core of real estate, property development and innovative design.

The assembled crowd of old friends and family members, business associates, bankers, investors and many loyal supporters of the fledgling Calamander Group, back in 2006, enjoyed sundowners and fine wines. The guests, beckoned by the mellifluous sounds of the band, ‘Legato’, then drifted towards the beautiful Calamander Unawatuna Beach ocean side restaurant, to dine on flowing dishes of Sri Lankan and International cuisine, created by Chef Dilshan and his team.

As the evening progressed, and diners became dancers, the Cultural navy drummers reappeared to treat guests to a virtuoso display of their craft, followed by a troop of dancing girls, strutting their stuff to the delight and amusement of the crowd. The first part of the evening was then marked by a spectacular display of fireworks, announcing Calamander’s 10th anniversary and barefooted revellers danced on the beach into the wee hours.
