Sri Lanka and tea are synnonimous for it’s quality and Sri Lankan Airlines are ready to spread their wings to further enhance the saga by sponsoring an unique event which is named as the Sri Lanka T- Cup Cycle Race from April 9 to 7 ,2017.

The race is organised by the Lanka Sportsrizen (LSR) and and co-sponsored by Sri Lankan Airlines.

In a press briefing held at the Sri Lankan Head Office Auditorium at the WTC chaired by CEO Suren Ratwatte the Managing Director of LSR Thilak Weerasinghe said THAT THE EVENT WAS A UNIQUE ONE TAKING PLACE FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF MANY FOREIGN COUNTRIES WHICH IS BOUND TO BOOST TOURISM And the image of the country immensely.

‘ Sri Lanka has the ideal location for an event of this nature with plenty of flat, steeps and climbs distances which should encourage more riders from other contries to participate in future races’ said Thilak Weerasinghe. He was responsible in conducting the Colombo Marathon sucessfully the only marathon sanctioned by the IAF and his confident that the T-Cup Cycle race will end in a successful note. The race will be held in three stages starting after registration on the April 5th at Catamaran Beach Hotel, Negombo travel to the east Negombo to Passikudah.

On day one 7th April race starts from Passidudah to Mahiyanganaya covering a distance of 140 KM. Day two- Mahiyangana to Kandy 80 KM and the last stage Kandy to Negombo approximately 120 KM.

The competition will be a team event is open to all national and club teams. The LSR expects to offer US dollars 20,000.00 as total prize money from the 1st to the 20th place.Seven international teams including Holland, Philippines, Singapore and Kenya have already confirmed their participation.
