Santhush Gunatileka of St.Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya maintained his top position with (39,709) while Isipathana’s Sanjula Abeywickrema with (27,927) ousted Peterite Lakshina Rodrigo (26,437) to the third place place in the division 1 category at the end of the 18th week count in the Sunday Observer/ Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The year contest 2017.
From the start of the contest it has been a three cornered affair between Rodrigo, Gunatileka and Abeywickrema at number three. However, Abeywickrema sprang to the second position with a good number of votes against his name.
There were no changes in the other two categories with Piyumal Sinhawansa (St.Anne’s, Kurunegala) and Charitha Basnayake ( Bandarawela CC) occupying the two top positions in division 2 and 3 respectively.
