McLarens Group of Companies continued to dominate in the local badminton scene when Some of their men and women shuttlers did well at the 65th National Badminton Championships 2017 as well.

The Nationals held at Royal College Indoor Stadium recently was open to all age groups ranging from Under 13 Girls and Boys to the Masters Division singles and doubles. Once again McLarens outstanding Shuttlers with a skilful display made their mark against the best of the best to secure their positions at the top.

The tournament had an electrifying atmosphere with many performances that stood out. Thilini Hendehew claimed a triple crown when she won the Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and in the Mixed doubles partnering Sachin Dias.

Sachin Dias along with his partner secured the Open Men’s Double Trophy while Achini Rathnasiri and her partner fought their way into becoming the Open Women’s Doubles Runner Up.

Subash de Silva was crowned champion in the Over 40 Men’s Singles, Manjula Fernando and his partner in the Over 40 Men’s Doubles and Ranthushka Sasindu in the Under 19 Boys Singles. Banisha Perera became the champion of the Men’s Plate category.

To add to her greatest triumphs, Thilini Hendehewa from McLarense who represented the nation at the Lagos International Badminton Challenge 2017 in July and completely dominated in her matches was crowned champion at the Women’s Single and Women’s Doubles.

McLarense take great pride of these Shuttlers and wish them the very best to bring more glory to our mother land in the future tournaments to come.
