Malinda Warnapura tells kids to stay disciplined, work hard

Former Sri Lanka cricketer and present head coach of St. Peters’ College Malinda Warnapura exhorted young players to adhere to the ethics of fair play and discipline if they were to succeed on the big stage.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the awards ceremony of the CCC School of Cricket after the conclusion of their annual inter-house tournament while his wife Shanika also graced the occasion and presented the awards.

Warnapura praised the young hopefuls for their disciplinary conduct on the field saying that sporting values should be displayed at all times.

“It you want to achieve success work hard and you cannot go by talent alone”, said Warnapura.

Among the audience were the parents of the players. The CCC School of Cricket was founded in 1998 by veteran coach Nelson Mendis.

Sobers House won the overall Championship beating Jayawardena House while Bradman and Tendulkar houses tied for the third place. The Most Outstanding Cricketer of the Year was Divyesh Ramaiah.
