The Boxing Association of Sri Lanka will conduct its first tournament for men and women for the year 2019 from March 21 to 25th at the Royal Boxing Arena commencing at 3.00 pm daily.
This will be an important event for novice boxers as the winners and runners-up will be eligible to take part in major tournaments like the Layton Cup, Clifford Cup and National Championships in the future.
It is open to all men and women boxers who are over 19 years and below 40 years. The age of each boxer is based on the year of birth. Any boxer who has never won a Novices or Intermediate Boxing meet conducted before or not won any major meet before are eligible to participate in this tournament. All new boxers are also allowed to take part.
Over 150 boxers are expected to contest the meet.Last year the best boxer women’s award was won by IPRS Ilangarathne of Police while TGHN Jinadasa of Peradeniya BC won the men’s award.
