The MCA organized ‘F’ Division 25-over League tournament will see 28 teams competing for the ‘Fairfirst Trophy’, commenced yesterday at eight venues. The tournament was postponed due to security concerns.

Each venue will host two matches per day in this short version of the game. The 28 teams are grouped into four teams each consisting of seven groups.

These details were disclosed at a media briefing held on Friday (10) at the MCA pavilion.

Fairfirst Insurance Limited sponsors the Tournament for the second consecutive year. The League matches are due to come to an end on June 22nd with the pre quarter-finals scheduled for June 29, semi-finals on July 13 and the grand final on July 20. The organizers hope to conduct the tourney to schedule expecting the security to reach normalcy.

President of the MCA Roshan Iddamalgoda, in his address said that with Fairfirst Insurance Limited coming forward the Tournament will get underway despite the situation in the country. It will bring some relief to the employees who were out of activities in their workplace.

Iddamalgoda also thanked the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fairfirst Dr. Sanjeeva Jha for their support of this tournament.

Brandix Essentials ‘B’ won the inaugural Tournament last year beating Akbar Brothers in the final which was played at the MCA ground. This year too, the final is scheduled to be played at the same venue.

Special Awards on offer are for: Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Final and Man of the Series.
