First defeat for NTB at MCA cricket

Commercial Credit & Finance inflicted the first defeat on Nations Trust Bank while Morisons notched up their first win beating DFCC Bank in the ongoing NDB Trophy MCA ‘C’ division tournament last weekend.

Commercial Credit & Finance piped Nations Trust Bank by three runs to remain unbeaten in Group ‘A’ with three wins on the trot.

In another Group ‘A’ match, Morisons kept their chances alive on entering the final round when they beat DFCC Bank by four wickets, thus pushing the bankers out of contention in the final round.

Morisons, chasing a total of 242 runs in 50 overs set up by DFCC Bank, was spearheaded to their first win by centurion Sachin Dewage (112) and half centurion Heshan Madushanka (59) as they reached 245/6 in 48.1 overs.

Sri Lanka Telecom registered two good wins over Commercial Bank and PABC.
