Hassen Khalid, the Grandmaster of Fei Quando which is a martial art, is no more. He suffered a massive heart attack after returning from conducting a class on Thursday (8) and passed away in hospital.

There were many followers of his martial art, Fei Quando or ‘Way of flying fists’, that caught up with school children, clubs and institutions, adults, the armed forces and Police and many well educated individuals such as doctors and lawyers. Khalid often conducted rigorous grading tests to award Colours after its followers attended classes conducted him at the Royal College Sports Complex.

Khalid first learnt karate as a young boy from a Chinese. He then soon became a master at it and created his own martial art and named it Fei Quando or ‘Way of flying fists’.

Khalid was 72 years old at the time of his death and leaves behind his wife, five daughters and two sons.

Janaza took place at the Maligawatte Muslim burial ground the same night.
