Sri Lanka prepares for Asia Cup with Invitational T20

7 August, 2022

Following the postponement of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Sri Lanka Cricket will host a four-team T20 showpiece called T20 Invitational tournament from August 9 to 16 at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The matches will be contested by teams called the Reds, Blues, Greens and Greys and spectators will be welcome to witness the games free of charge. All of the island’s top players will be in action.

The matches will also prepare the Sri Lankan players for the upcoming six-nation Asia Cup in the UAE which starts on August 27.

The Asia Cup was to be played in Sri Lanka but shifted to the UAE due to current political developments in the country.

But Sri Lanka will retain the hosting rights and could earn up to six million US dollars from the championship.
