Rural Road Development project to mark President’s birthday

The Rural Road Development project will be launched in Polonnaruwa today to mark President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s birthday. It will be inaugurated at 6.00 am today in front of the historical Gal Vihara, Polonnaruwa with a Kiripindu pooja.

The project will be launched with Rs. 10 billion allocated by President Wickremesinghe in Budget 2024 to reconstruct dilapidated rural roads across the country. State Minister of Rural Development, Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan and the State Minister of Highways Siripala Gamalath will inaugurate work to renovate rural roads in the Polonnaruwa district.

The roads earmarked to be developed are: the road from Diya Beduma Gabada Junction to 34 Yaya Road, Aralaganwila, Siluminaseya temple entrance road, Weheragala Kekuluwala Maldeniya road, Katuwanvila Senapura road, Divulankadawala fishing village road and the Hingurakgoda Paluveva road.

Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena and senior officials of the Ministry of Transport and Road Development Authority will also participate.
