Poems : Enduring Freedom

22 January, 2017

(Commemorating 75 years of the Holocaust 1941-2016)

Adolf Hitler desired a superior race
One which he could reign and rule
In the end, he shot himself in disgrace
The Nazi leader, was a malevolent fool
The subdued Jews were herded on a train
It was the core of the cruel Nazi game
The Jews endured hunger, and prolonged pain
The German Reich rejoiced at their shame
To the gas chambers at gunpoint they were led
As sheep guided to merciless slaughter
The gas released, thousands were dead
The Nazis resonated with laughter
The world simply looked on with despair
This was a case of calculated genocide
The dying screams filled Auschwitz morning air
The next batch of Jews, begin their train ride
Israel was a nation built with martyrdom
Seventy five years since the black holocaust
Today, it shines as Zion’s kingdom
A resilient people, standing strong and steadfast
May the United Nations strive to engage
Nations and races subject to war and waves of fear
Peace must replace political rage
Alongside the dawn of this New Year

 The upland crow

Among flowers of may
Hidden within the leaves
Peering gently down
The upland crow
Makes no sound
when the birds gather
Their caw now bother
winds sweep the trees
Dispersing all the Bees
The crow finds
An upland kind
The prey of worms
Still relish now fund
Yet hidden it stays
until nights face
make the gleaming moon
shine again
Before next noon.
