Maj.Gen. Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe appointed Secretary, Ministry of Health

Director General of Army Health Services, Major General (Dr.) Sanjeewa Munasinghe took office as Secretary to the Ministry of Health on Monday, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe is a Consultant Radiologist at the Army Hospital. He is also Director-General of the Army Health Services, President of the Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps.

Major General Munasinghe, a renowned Consultant Radiologist by profession joined the Sri Lanka Army on completion of his MBBS degree in 1984 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna. He read for his MD (Radiology) in Sri Lanka (1993) and holds Fellowship in Neuro-Radiology and Interventionist Radiology (Australia 1994-1995), Fellowship in Neuro-interventionist Radiology (Oxford University 1999), Fellowship in Advanced CT (Maryland University-USA 2000) and also Fellowship in Advanced MRI (Germany 2018).

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Director General Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe, former Secretary of the Health Ministry Badrani Jayawardena and several other officials were present when he assumed duty.
