Independence Day Invocation
Now I am in three scores
Cradling grandchildren on my lap,
Still yearning for freedom.
Oh lord ! may our nation be blessed,
With morality and goodness,
May the farmers reap a good harvest!
Let not them sow seeds of sorrow,
May the rulers be inspiring!
May the teachers be inspirational
May the media impress the masses!
May the universities produce precious gems!
May justice not be thwarted!
May dependence be replaced by independence
Carrying Sri Lanka to the summit!
